NEVS’ vision is to shape mobility for a more sustainable future. Core to this is a global portfolio of fully electric premium cars, mobility solutions and sustainable city offerings.

NEVS was founded in 2012 and acquired the main assets of the Saab Automobile bankruptcy estates. The company is owned by NME Holdings Ltd., Tianjin Bin Hai Hi-tech Industrial Development Area, (THT), and State Research Information Technology Co., Ltd. (SRIT).

NEVS’ head office and main research and development facilities are located in Trollhättan, Sweden. NEVS’ car production plant is located in Trollhättan, with a second production plant and a R&D Centre under construction in Tianjin, China, as well as a production plant in Fujian, China.

National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB builds on the Saab Automobile AB legacy of innovative power, quality, progressive design and a firm commitment to environmental and safety issues. Our aim is to be a front runner in the automotive industry, with focus on electric vehicles.

NEVS will be the trademark of the company’s products including the first electric vehicle based on the 9-3 platform with start in 2017. That means that NEVS will no longer use the Saab trademark.

National Electric Vehicle Sweden

Research, development and manufacturing is a match between Swedish know-how in manufacturing and design and Japanese advanced technology. Research and development is conducted as a collaborative effort between Swedish, Japanese, and Chinese engineers.

Beijing National Battery Technology, a China based sister company of National Electric Vehicle Sweden, operates a manufacturing plant for electric vehicle batteries. These batteries are based on Japanese technology and have high energy density – currently rated at 146 Wh/kg.

The plant at Trollhättan is the main hub of National Electric Vehicle Sweden, including head office, research & development and manufacturing.

Evergrande Group new main owner in NEVS AB

Januar 15, 2019, it was announced that Evergrande Health will be the new owner, with 51% of the shares in NEVS AB to become a global leader in new energy smart travel ecology. Kai Johan Jiang, with his company, NE Holding, will have 49 % of the shares.

Evergrande Group owns four listed subsidiary companies, i.e. Evergrande Health (0708.HK), China Evergrande (3333.HK), HengTen Networks (0136.HK) and Calxon (000918.SZ. Evergrande Group has accumulated total assets of RMB 1.77 trillion and achieved annual sales of RMB 550 billion, paying over RMB 200 billion in taxes and donating over RMB 11.5 billion to charity. It has 140,000 employees and creates more than 2.6 million jobs every year, ranking 230th in the Fortune Global 500 list and listed in the top 100 Global Brands.

Evergrande Health Industry Group listed in Hong Kong is a subsidiary company of Evergrande Group that focuses on health industry.

National Modern Energy Holdings Ltd. (NME Holdings Ltd.)

The 100% owner of National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB. NME Holdings Ltd. was founded in 2004 by main owner Kai Johan Jiang. The company is registered in the British Virgin Islands and managed from Hong Kong. NME Holdings is the majority owner of State Power Group, a Beijing based enterprise which has pioneered development of renewable, clean energy in China.

State Power Group

State Power Group is focused on alternative energy sources for China, based on highly efficient biofuel plants. The Group operates 30 biofuel power plants and is active as a technology developer in wind power, efficient energy storage, batteries for electric vehicles and biofuel boilers. The Group has approximately 8,200 employees.

Qingdao Qingbo Investment Co Ltd.

Through its investment company Qingdao Qingbo Investment Co, Ltd, the City of Qingdao has signed an agreement to acquire a 22 per cent share of NEVS. Qingdao Qingbo Investment Co Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Qingdao, dedicated to investments in environmentally sound enterprises. With a population of nine million, the City is a leading economic centre in the Shandong Province in Eastern China. The Port of Qingdao ranks as the seventh largest in the world.

The NEVS investment is an important step to secure the region’s access to electric vehicles, and to build an industrial structure where the vehicle industry, including EVs, is key for the future. As production at the Trollhättan plant will reach capacity, a complementary manufacturing facility will gradually be established in Qingdao.

Saab Automobile

On June 13, 2012, Saab was sold to National Electric Vehicle Sweden, it was announced that a newly formed company called National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) had bought Saab Automobile’s bankrupt estate. On June 21, 2016, NEVS announced they will no longer use the Saab trademark.
